Happy Halloween

We started at school as a princess but we ended up being kitty cats at home. I think Little Jo didn't like the maintenance of the princess outfit- the tiara, the skirt falling down, etc. I also think that she liked me painting her face. Her teacher was amazed that she ate an entire cookie with icing on top. She said to me "Little Jo doesn't eat frosted cookies very often, does she?" I didn't answer- "She is a bit like her mommy and tends to make a mess." What I did say was "oh, we don't have those at home very often."

Games

I almost finished some wonderful Amy Butler placemats last night. They are beautiful but I can't show a picture of them because they are a gift for someone special. I guess that I will have to show you some recent pictures of the girls- oh darn.

Little Jo is playing soccer. She loves her coach and I don't blame her-heehee. She has great taste.

Go ahead, read a book.

I thought since I was an English teacher, I should feature some books on my blog. I go through phases where I read like crazy and then I don't. Here is one of my reading picks:

I finished this book last night. It is a quick read but I really enjoyed it. I added it so my book list so you can click on it if you would like to read more about it. As always, I checked it out at the library. Since it isn't a bestseller here in the US, it is easy to get-a bonus! However, it was a bestseller in France and won several French literary prizes.

Picture Practice

It's Fall
It is currently 78 degrees. Wow, I can feel fall in the air. Wishful thinking....

I went to the fabric store today. I had a wonderful time. I could just wrap myself in all the wonderful fabric and roll around on the floor.

Check it out. $1.99 a yard- need I say more. No, really. When it comes to fabric, I don't lie. The picture doesn't do it justice.

My haircut from the side. I took pictures of myself and I look just like my Grandma Jo.

A RUFFLE
The first ruffle that I have ever sewn. I attached it to the bottom of a pillowcase dress that I am making for Little Jo. She wants to wear the dress already so I guess that is a good sign. She is quite the fashionista at 3 years old.

This is a picture of a couple of my Ghost Cookies that I posted the recipe for yesterday. Lee Anne was interested so I thought I would do it for her. (And now I can act like this is a cooking blog too-now that is pure amusement.)

Ghost Cookies

Today, Nina and I made Ghost Cookies. They are different. It was a recipe that her preschool sent home so I thought that I would give it a try. Betsy liked to eat the chocolate chips out of the cookies. Imagine that.

Here is the recipe:

CHOCOLATE CHIP GHOST COOKIES

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Beat 2 egg whites at high speed until frothy.

Add ¾ cup sugar a bit at a time, beating the entire time.

Beat until stiff.

Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla, while still beating.

Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt.

Fold in 6 ounces of chocolate chips.

Grease cookie sheet.

Drop heaping teaspoons of batter onto cookie sheet.

Put in oven.

Turn off oven.

Leave cookies for at least 3 hours.

Just the Beginning

I have become addicted to reading blogs. I really like the blogs about sewing and cooking. I am all about being inspired. My hope is that I can inspire you like others inspire me. Anything is possible.
